More than 1,800 customers without power in Soledad area

SOLEDAD, Calif. (KION)

UPDATE 8/12/2020 11 a.m. PG&E reports that a power outage in the Soledad area been reduced from affecting 1,883 customers to 196.

The utility said the outage was caused by an equipment issue, and a crew is at the scene.

Power is expected to be restored for the remaining customers shortly before 2 p.m.

PREVIOUS STORY: Pacific Gas and Electric reports that 1,883 customers are without power in the area around Soledad.

According to PG&E, the outage started shortly before 9:30 a.m., and the cause of the outage is still under investigation.

The utility estimates that power will be restored at about 11 a.m.

Today is the first day of school for the Soledad Unified School District, and all students are expected to start classes online.
