SALINAS, Calif. (KION) A Gilroy man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison by a Monterey County judge for molesting two children.

One of the girls reported in July 2019 that the man, 37-year-old Tobias Ruiz Jimenez, tried to lift her shirt and inappropriately touched her over her clothes when she was 13.

Another girl reported that Ruiz Jimenez touched her inappropriately over her clothes two times and under her clothes two times when she was between 10 and 11 years old.

No other adults were around when the incidents happened.

In June, Ruiz Jimenez pleaded guilty to assault with the intent to commit a sexual offense and committing a lewd or lascivious act. Both are considered strikes under California's Three Strikes Law.

In addition to prison time, Ruiz Jimenez will be required to register as a sex offender for life and he will not be allowed to contact either of the victims for ten years.
