Deer tangled in rope swing at Carmel Valley home rescued

SPCA for Monterey County

CARMEL VALLEY, Calif. (KION) The SPCA for Monterey County said its wildlife team rescued a tangled deer at a home Tuesday.

The Monterey County Regional Fire Department called the agency when it responded to a 911 call about a deer caught in a backyard rope swing at a home on El Caminito Road.

The SPCA said the buck had been stuck for at least a day, and he had become more tangled as he struggled to get away. When the team got there, the SPCA said one rescuer climbed the tree to hold the rope and limit the deer's movement, and that allowed a firefighter to cut the rope while another rescuer humanely held the buck down.

After the rope was cut, the SPCA said they got the rope out of the buck's antlers, and within a few minutes, he was released back into the Carmel Valley hills.
