Another suspect has been arrested in connection to the 2009 Santa Cruz murder of 16-year-old Tyler Tenorio.

Paulo Ramirez Luna, 34, was arrested in Mexico and extradited to Santa Cruz County on Monday, according to the Santa Cruz County District Attorney's Office.

News of Monday's arrest comes nearly a year and a half after the arrest of another suspect, Ivan Tapia Ramirez, 32, who was extradited after being arrested in Mexico in February 2019.

Tenorio, a Junior at Santa Cruz High, was stabbed to death near Chestnut and Laurel streets on October 16, 2009. Law enforcement said he and his friends got into a brief fight with another group outside the 7-Eleven store.

The DA's office says Luna was previously identified by the Santa Cruz Police Department through their investigation and witness interviews. Luna was arrested with the help of the DA's office, authorities in Mexico, the United States Marshals and INTERPOL.

Luna has been listed on the City of Santa Cruz's "Cold Case Investigations" and Wanted list.

Luna is being held on murder charges, according to the DA's Office. He is awaiting arraignment in the Santa Cruz Superior Court.

A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
