APTOS, Calif. (KION) A whale has washed onshore at Rio Del Mar State Beach, and state parks officials are planning how to move it.

The thirty-foot humpback whale washed up Monday afternoon.

State Parks said it plans to move the whale's carcass offshore, but wind speed and direction need to change before they could do that. They said it will probably be moved offshore later this week with a towboat.

Right now, there is a crew at the beach to keep people away from the carcass. It is also recommended that people do not swim in the area.
