Woman killed in crash near Western Drive and Mission Street

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) Santa Cruz police said a woman from out of the area died in a crash Monday morning.

The crash happened near Western Drive and Mission Street just before 3 a.m. Police believe the vehicle was heading south on Western Drive when it hit a utility pole and several other objects before stopping in front of a business on the 2800 block of Mission Street.

The driver of the vehicle, a 49-year-old woman from out of the area, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity will not be released until the next of kin is notified.
