MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Two people are facing charges after they were allegedly found with 45 pounds of cannabis flower and nearly $60,000 in cash during a traffic stop in Monterey County.

The Monterey County District Attorney's Office said the CHP stopped the vehicle because it was going 95 miles per hour near San Ardo and the passenger was not wearing a seatbelt.

When the officer asked for identification, the DA's Office said there was a strong marijuana smell coming from the car. The passenger claimed to be a licensed distributor delivering from a cultivation site, but investigators said he used a fake ID and fake documents.

Investigators said both of the suspects had large amounts of cash, and an officer found more than $56,000 in cash in a box in the back seat.

The suspects, Lila Aglan and Adham Deeb, are both facing charges filed by the Cannabis Enforcement Unit.
