PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (KION) A Pacific Grove resident is warning the community after his dog was chased by a coyote this weekend. It happened at Asilomar State Beach, while his wife was taking their dog for a walk.

The resident, who wished to be identified as Drew, said this wasn't the first time their neighborhood has dealt with an encounter.

"Something may have occurred—and could have occurred—had there been a pack, had there been multiples," Drew said. "Had our dog not been as obedient as it was in it’s limited capacity."

Drew said coyotes come and go over the years, and they reported the incident to authorities. However, they were told that there's nothing they can do, as that area is, in fact, the coyotes' natural habitat.
