Suspect in Santa Cruz deputy ambush being housed in Monterey County Jail

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Monterey County Sheriff's Office officials confirm Steven Carillo, the suspect accused of fatally shooting a Santa Cruz Deputy is being housed in the Monterey County Jail.

This is being done as standard practice to avoid any conflict or issues at the Santa Cruz County Jail.

Carillo is expected in a Santa Cruz County courtroom on Friday.
