PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (KION) The City of Pacific Grove said two sections of Lighthouse Avenue for a 30-day trial period.

The city said it is closing the street to promote outdoor dining and retail. The area would be open for local businesses, but no out-of-town businesses or food trucks will be allowed in. It is an effort to help businesses while following the county's Shelter in Place order.

The closures will start June 12 between 16th and Forest and between Grand and Fountain. The sections of road will be closed 24/7.

Restaurants participating will have outdoor dining, stores will sell goods and there will be fire pits, non-amplified entertainment, restrooms and hand-washing stations, according to the city.

Businesses interested in participating are asked to contact Laurel O'Halloran at lohalloran@cityofpacificgrove.org.
