Highlighting unsolved cases on the central coast: Carl Reimer

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION)--There are countless cold cases from all law enforcement agencies across the central coast. And the families of victims yearn for closure.

In a new segment, we will be highlighting some of these unsolved cases.

This week, we bring you a 10-year-old case out of Santa Cruz and the victim was just 19 years old.

On April 24th 2010, 19-year-old Carl Reimer was walking on Grandview Street in Santa Cruz.

Carl was gunned down, shot multiple times and was transported to a trauma center where he later died.

And ten years later despite rumors and tips---still no leads on a suspect.

“The reason the victim was targeted, or if he was targeted, we don’t know for sure and we don’t have any specific reasons for this shooting at this point,” says Cold Case Investigator Ron Truhitte.

Truhitte came out of retirement to investigate cold cases for the Santa Cruz Police Department. He says even the smallest bit of information can lead to something huge.

“Somebody knows. Somebody knows what happened and it’s just getting out things like this to the public so that the public will get involved and help us.”

If you or anyone you know has information that could help in this case, you are asked to call the Santa Cruz Police Department at 420-5820.

To remain anonymous, call 420-5995.
