Natividad nurses plea for more personal protective equipment

SALINAS (KION) A nurse at Natividad says they are mostly doing supportive care for patients, although it will depend on the severity of their symptoms.

This means that they focus on treating the symptoms that patients have.
But Natividad Supervising Nurse Cassandra Caldera said that it does vary from case to case.

Some residents have some concerns about going into the hospital for non COVID-19 related emergencies for fear of potentially being exposed.
But Caldera encourages people who need help to come in.

“Come to the emergency room if you need to come. Don’t hesitate to seek care if you need care. We are seeing those patients who are waiting and they are sicker than they should be,” Caldera said.

She also adds that they are beginning to see more people coming in for general emergencies–people who haven’t sought care for an extended time but now are seeking it.

Natividad is screening patients who come into the emergency department and separating those with COVID-19 symptoms and general emergencies.
