Scotts Valley Unified latest to join Juul lawsuit

juul

Multiple central coast schools have filed a lawsuit against Juul Labs, for what they say is the company's role in cultivating and fostering an e-cigarette epidemic.

Monterey Peninsula Unified, North Monterey County Unified, Pacific Grove Unified, Santa Cruz City Schools, Scotts Valley Unified and a number of other local districts have filed.

They say e-cigarettes have disrupted the education and learning environment.

The lawsuit seeks injunction and abatement to stop the e-cigarette epidemic.

Some districts also seek compensatory damages to provide relief from the district's financial losses as a result of students being absent from school, and coordinating outreach and education programs regarding the health risks of vaping.
