Gilroy man on motorcycle dies after crash with big rig

HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION)

UPDATE 4/15/2020 4:00 p.m. A Gilroy man has died after the CHP said a big rig ran a red light and hit him.

The big rig was heading west on SR 156 at around 10:18 a.m. Wednesday and the 49-year-old from Gilroy was riding a motorcycle south on SR 25.

The CHP said that the driver of the big rig ran a red light at the intersection of the two roads and hit the motorcyclist. He died as a result of his injuries.

The crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Quintanna at 408-848-2324.

PREVIOUS STORY: A man on a motorcycle has died as a result of a crash near SR 25 and SR 156 Wednesday morning.

The crash involved a big rig, which witnesses say ran a stop light.

The California Highway Patrol was not able to provide more details.
