MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Monterey County's Operational Area Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has activated to Level 2 to prepare for and respond to coronavirus cases in the county.

Earlier this month, EOC activated to Level 3, the lowest level, but Level 2 means that there is an emergency that requires more than a minimum amount of staff, but does not need a full activation of organization elements.

The EOC said its director will be working with staff to demobilize some functions and add staff to other functions considered necessary, and representatives may be required to support functional area activations.
