GREENFIELD, Calif. (KION) A Salinas woman has died as a result of a crash on Arroyo Seco Road north of Thorne Road Tuesday morning.

The CHP responded to the scene just before 7 a.m. They said a driver was heading northbound on Arroyo Seco Road and approached an area where three farm labor buses were unloading farm workers on the south side of the road.

The workers were crossing the road from the westbound side to the eastbound side, and the driver slowed down to about 30 to 35 miles per hour as she passed the buses.

While the driver was passing, a 56-year-old Salinas woman walked between two buses and into the path of the vehicle. The woman was hit and died at the scene. The driver stayed at the scene.
