New elder fraud hotline launched

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION) To help elderly residents who often become the victims of scams, a new fraud hotline was created.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said the National Elder Fraud Hotline is a toll-free call center that was made to provide personalized support.

Between 9 a.m. and 2 a.m. PST, callers can report fraud; get a case manager to help them through the reporting process at the federal, state and local levels and connect them with resources.

To get help from the National Elder Fraud Hotline, call 833-FRAUD-11 or 833-372-8311.
