Warm Days

High pressure strengthens over the state through mid-week, pushing any rain far, far, far away. The associated dome of warm air along with offshore winds will mean much warmer than normal temperatures for all areas during that period. The ridge will eventually break down by the end of the week with some cooling starting Thursday/Friday. Then, a deep trough will dig down along the West Coast this weekend. It will draw up some moisture from the south, but only light rainfall is expected and mainly on Sunday. You’re more likely to notice the big cool-down and breezy conditions.

Overnight: Clear and seasonable with coastal lows in the low to mid 40s, low 30s to low 40s inland and 50s up in the hills.

Wednesday: Sunny and warm. Expect coastal highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s and widespread 70s inland.

Thursday: Sunny and even warmer with upper 60s to mid 70s on the coast and widespread 70s to around 80ºF inland.

Extended:  Expect slight cooling starting Friday with increasing high clouds. Then, even cooler, breezier conditions expected on Saturday as winds shift back onshore ahead of Sunday’s system. That system will likely bring a few rain showers to the region and continued cool temperatures.

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for March 4th-10th calls for the likelihood of near normal temperatures and BELOW normal precipitation.
