Woman rescued by helicopter after falling off trail at Garrapata State Park

CHP - Coastal Division Air Operations

CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, Calif. (KION) The CHP Coastal Division Air Operations brought a woman to safety after they said she fell from the Soberanes Canyon Trail, tumbling approximately 80 feet down a steep embankment and into Soberanes Creek.

She was reportedly found lodged beneath a fallen redwood, suffering from major injuries.

The tall trees and thick canopy made it challenging for rescuers but they were able to hoist her up in a basket. She was then taken to the hospital.

No word on her current condition.
