PREVIOUS STORY: All is calm Tuesday night after a chaotic scene just hours earlier at a Seaside neighborhood on Mescal Court.

Neighbors say one particular corner house has always been a problem: parties and cars going in and out frequently. On Tuesday, SWAT surrounded the house for hours in a massive drug bust.

"It's kind of scary. I mean I have little brothers, siblings, and they're always playing around, and the SWAT had to come by and jump the fence," said Lucero Lopez, a Seaside resident.

Officers with the Salinas Police Department's Violence Suppression Task Force closed in at around 8 a.m. Tuesday. At least 16 people were in the house when cops showed up. Most exited when called out, but others tried to escape.

"Several of them tried to go out side doors, back doors, that kind of thing. But we had a perimeter set and they soon realized that they weren't going to be able to just run out the back," said Cmdr. Matt Maldonado, with the Salinas Police Department.

At least four people were arrested in connection with the drug bust. Investigators say they were tipped off by neighbors about what was going on in the house.

Nothing has been released about the people arrested, but KION found documents that show in 2019 alone, at least seven people are listed as living at the house.

Lopez tells us she had a bizarre encounter with an older woman at the home.

"She was just speaking gibberish and just yelling out bad words, cussing at us when we would be out here," said Lopez.

Police took multiple bags filled with some sort of drugs out of the residence, but they are not yet saying what exactly the drugs and evidence found are.
