MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) CHP officials confirm one woman is dead following a crash on Wednesday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol says the traffic collision happened on San Juan Road west of Allison Street.

They say a white 1994 Nissan Sentra was traveling eastbound on San Juan Road and passing unsafely through the two-way turn.  The white Nissan Sentra began to lose control and overturned several times to the right.  The Sentra struck a chain link fence and came to rest on top of an empty flatbed trailer.

The driver is a 30-year-old female and a resident of Royal Oaks. Officials say alcohol and or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this traffic collision.

The Monterey County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the driver when the next of kin has been notified.

The California Highway Patrol reminds everyone to obey the posted traffic signs.
