SAN CARLOS, Calif. (KION) A San Carlos pastor is behind bars after the Sheriff's Office said he threatened to shoot members of a church.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said 79-year-old Paul Michaelson delivered four letters to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with threats of violence and was caught on security cameras.

During the investigation, the Sheriff's Office said members of the church told them that Michaelson was a former member and felt wronged after asking for help from the church and not getting what he wanted.

Detectives searched Michaelson's house Thursday night. They said they did not find any guns, but took steps to prevent him from buying guns through the Department of Justice in the future.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Cosens at 650-363-4347.
