SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) UC Santa Cruz police are investigating vandalism incidents on campus that include interruptions of electrical power and other potentially dangerous acts.

Police said the vandalism reported includes interruption to electrical power that causes street lights to not work, tampering and damaging natural gas valves that cause gas leaks and pouring materials into bathroom drains that have caused serious plumbing problems.

The incidents have happened mainly on Science Hill and at Cowell and Stevenson colleges since Friday, according to police.

The police chief said the vandalism puts the safety and health of the campus community at risk and encourages anyone with information to call campus police at 831-459-2231, ext. 1.
