KING CITY, Calif. (KION) After two years of city-hosted block parties, King City is trying something new.

The city is encouraging neighborhoods to organize their own block parties by offering grants. Participating neighborhoods can have all block party permit fees waived and get a $250 grant to help with costs for food, a bounce house and/or entertainment. Police said they will also come to answer questions if they are invited.

The city hopes the block party grant will encourage neighbors to get to know each other and work together to promote safety.

Anyone with questions can call City Hall at 831-385-3281.
