Woman rescued at Cowell Ranch State Beach

HALF MOON BAY, Calif. (KION) A woman is in serious condition after she was rescued at Cowell Park State Beach.

Cal Fire said the woman was walking her dog on the beach when a big wave came in and swept her dog into the ocean. She went to rescue the dog and was swept further out. Her dog made it back to the shore, but she was about 200 yards offshore.

The woman was rescued by Cal Fire firefighters and the Pillar Point Harbor Master and taken to the hospital.
