King City man arrested for allegedly stealing tools from work truck

KING CITY, Calif. (KION) A King City man was arrested for burglary after a business owner reported tools taken from a work truck.

Just after 7 a.m. Thursday, the King City business owner reported it in the 300 block of East San Antonio Drive. The business owner said someone broke into a work truck overnight and stole hand and work tools.

After investigating, police identified 27-year-old James Michael Diaz as a suspect. They believe he removed a lock on the back door of the truck and took items. Officers found Diaz at his home. They said they found the stolen property, five grams of meth and drug paraphernalia.

During an interview, police said Diaz admitted to being involved in the theft. He was booked into the Monterey County Jail on burglary, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.
