Multiple arrests, no major incidents during Santa Cruz New Year celebration
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) Santa Cruz police made multiple arrests during the Countdown Celebration Tuesday night, but said there were no major incidents.
There were about 1,500 at the downtown event, and between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to 83 calls for service.
Police made several arrests and issued citations that include:
- Two warrant arrests
- Four public intoxication arrests
- Five citations issued
- One Safety Enhancement Zone citation
Police enforced a Safety Enhancement Zone, and any violations within it incurred triple fines, but there were also more officers on foot patrol.
