PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (KION) Pacific Grove police are reminding residents that they can register their bicycles with the department.

Registering a bike can be helpful if it is lost or stolen. If the bike is reported to the police department, officers can run the serial number, and if it is registered, officers can contact the owner.

To register a bicycle, bring a completed registration form to the station or email it to pgpdrecords@cityofpacificgrove.org.

Police do not register other serialized items, but suggests documenting serial numbers and keeping them in a safe place.

Find the registration form here.
