One person dead after crash on Highway 152 in Gilroy

GILROY, Calif. (KION) One person is dead after a crash on Highway 152 near Lovers Lane in Gilroy.

According to the Hollister-Gilroy area California Highway Patrol, witnesses reported that the driver of a Jaguar was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control, colliding with a van and later a semi truck.

The Jaguar and Van became engulfed in flames and the Jaguar's driver died of their injuries.

The CHP said driver of the van was taken to the hospital for suspected internal injuries.

The CHP closed Highway 152 at Bloomfield and Highway 152 near 156.

The CHP estimates the lanes will re-open at 11:00 p.m.
