Soledad man killed in Salinas repair accident

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Salinas police identify the worker killed in an industrial accident Monday night as 42-year-old Jose Luis Castro of Soledad.

KION was told at the scene that he was 31 years old.

The victim was killed when a semi truck came off the jack stand and fell onto the mechanic during a repair on West Lake Street. Police said they believe there was a mechanical failure or operator error.

Castro was found by someone after the accident happened. Police said the incident does not appear to be a crime.
