Pedestrian hit by tow truck while walking dog on Highway 9

FELTON, Calif. (KION) A pedestrian is in critical, but stable condition after being hit by a tow truck on Highway 9.

The pedestrian was crossing the road while walking his dog at around 5:24 p.m. near El Solyo Heights Drive.

Ben Lomond fire crews were the first at the scene providing care along with a Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office deputy, followed by Felton Fire shortly after along with State Parks rangers and CHP. Crews with Felton Fire administered CPR until paramedics arrived.

The pedestrian was flown by helicopter to Stanford Medical Center. The dog was taken by rangers to the Santa Cruz Animal Hospital for treatment. It is in stable condition.

Highway 9 was briefly shut down.
