Thousands without power on Central Coast during Tuesday storm

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION)

More than 12,000 customers in Monterey and Santa Cruz counties are without power, as of 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to PG&E. Roughly 8,400 of these customers are in the city of Santa Cruz .

The utility tells KION that there are more than 100 total outages in Monterey and Santa Cruz counties, largely weather related.

Nearly 2,500 people in the Aptos area are in the dark, as of 8:45 p.m.

The individual outage with the most people affected is in Santa Cruz. PG&E says 6,334 customers lost their power in the city at 7:41 p.m. However, a cause for the outage has not been confirmed.
