Police release new video in hopes of catching Salinas murder suspects

Salinas Police

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Salinas police have released new surveillance footage that they believe could help identify three murder suspects

On Oct. 26, officers responded to a report of a man down in the 1100 block of John Street. When they got there, they found 47-year-old Ventura Guzman Urias with severe face and head injuries.

Urias was placed on life support, but died of his injuries five days later.

Police said he was followed by three males in hooded sweatshirts and jeans who appeared to be in their late teens or early 20s. They said the three followed Urias, beat him and left him in the street. After that, they went west on John Street to a parked vehicle at McGowen and left, according to Salinas police.

The vehicle appears to be a black 2012 or newer 3-Series BMW with tinted side windows.

The video released by police shows the suspects before the attack. They hope the public can help identify the three suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Justin Heckman at 831-758-7323 or justinh@ci.salinas.ca.us.
