UPDATE: Nearly 100 stops were made in special traffic enforcement in Marina

UPDATE 11/15/2019 2:14 a.m.: The regional traffic enforcement team known as “STOPP” (Strategic Traffic Observation and Prevention Program) says 89 traffic enforcement stops were made. Seventy-one traffic citations were issued. Two people were cited for driving while unlicensed and one car was towed.

The “STOPP” team was made up of officers from the Marina, Salinas, Monterey and Pacific Grove Police Departments along with the California Highway Patrol.

PREVIOUS STORY: Drivers heading through Marina are going to want to be on their best behavior, as they always should. The Marina Police department says Thursday, from 7:00 a.m. To 12:00 p.m., the Monterey Regional Strategic Traffic Operations and Preventions or STOPP will be conducting a special traffic enforcement operation.

Officers assigned to STOPP will be deployed randomly throughout the city limits of Marina. The enforcement area will also include local area schools.

STOPP, made up of Monterey Regional law enforcement agencies, was formed to promote and enhance motorist safety, educate the public and reduce traffic collisions.
