Monterey High football coach suspended after weekend incident

A Monterey High School football coach is on paid administrative leave after an incident over the weekend at a football game against Soledad High School.

In a letter sent out to Monterey High School families obtained by KION, school administrators informed families that Coach Henry Lusk is on leave pending an “investigation of this personnel matter.”

The letter said because it is a personnel matter, “there are not many details we can share due to confidentiality.”

KION reached out to the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, and spokesperson Marci McFadden says they are not able to provide many details on what happened, citing ongoing investigations into staff members are private and confidential.

McFadden said if more details can be released, she will reach out to news organizations including KION.

The athletic director at Soledad High School, Nick Twitchell, tells KION the “incident did not involve anyone from Soledad High School or the Soledad football team.”
