PG&E monitoring weather for potential shutoff, Central Coast counties not included

Pacific Gas and Electric announced that it is considering a Public Safety Power Shutoff that could affect parts of 17 counties, but Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties were not included.

PG&E said it is monitoring weather that could result in strong and dry wind Wednesday and Thursday that could affect parts of the Sierra Foothills and the North Bay.

There is not a shutoff scheduled at this time, but a shutoff could affect parts of Amador, Butte, Colusa, El Dorado, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, San Joaquin, Solono, Sonoma, Tehama, Yolo and Yuba counties. PG&E said if there is a shutoff, they expect the scope and impact to be smaller than one earlier in October that affected parts of Santa Cruz County.

The utility opened an Emergency Operations Center in San Francisco to monitor the situation.
