Sheriff’s Office arrests suspect in Watsonville wheelchair ramp theft

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office said it arrested Pedro Villanueva in connection to a wheelchair ramp theft in Watsonville.

The Sheriff’s Office said the Auto Theft Reductions and Enforcement Task force reviewed surveillance video and recognized the truck the suspect used. The truck had been reported stolen, and on Thursday morning, detectives saw the Toyota Tacoma in Pajaro and arrested Villanueva.

Investigators said Villanueva admitted to stealing the ramp and told detectives where it was. They went to the home in Aptos he told them about and arrested Sandra Moore for having a stolen ramp.

Villanueva was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail and charged with vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, grand theft and an outstanding warrant.

The ramp was stolen on Oct. 10 and the Deputy Sheriff’s Association replaced it last week.
