Salinas police arrest three people found with $39K, drugs, loaded gun

Salinas police arrested three people after officers said they were found with meth, heroin, a loaded gun and $39,000 in cash.

Officers with the Violence Suppression Task Force and the Salinas Valley State Prison CRT team served a search warrant on the 400 block of Old Natividad Road Friday morning.

While serving the search warrant, officers said 33-year-old Veronica Lombera was trying to flush evidence down a toilet, but was detained before she could finish.

Police also detained 31-year-old Diego Espinoza and 43-year-old Rene Alvarado, who they said are active Sureno gang members.

In the home and vehicle, police said K9 Oakley found 9 ounces of meth, 2 ounces of heroin, a loaded 9mm gun and cash.

All three were booked into the Monterey County Jail on gun and drug charges.
