Police looking for suspects in Monterey armed robbery

UPDATE 10/17/2019 1:45 p.m. During an investigation into an armed robbery last Monday, Monterey police found photos of the two suspects they believe were involved.

The robbery happened near Beach Way and Spray Avenue when two victims said they were confronted by two men with a handgun.

Police are now working to identify the two suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Zook at 831-646-3810.

PREVIOUS STORY: Police in Monterey are looking for two suspects after a report of an armed robbery near Beach Way and Spray Avenue.

The robbery happened at around 9:47 p.m. Monday. Police said the two victims were walking in the area when they were confronted by two men.

Police said one of the suspects had a handgun that was passed back and forth between the two. They said the suspects stole personal items and left in one of the victims’ cars. The car was later found unoccupied on Canario Street in Salinas.

One suspect is described as a Hispanic man, about 30 years old, with an average build and wearing a short sleeve, button-down shirt and light colored pants.

The other suspect is described as a Hispanic man, about 30 years old, with an average build and wearing a baseball hat and a short sleeve, button-down shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Zook at 831-646-3810.
