One person dead following Highway 25 crash near Bolsa Road

One person is dead after a cement truck collided with a big rig Tuesday morning on Highway 25 near Bolsa Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the big rig was exiting a business to make a left-hand turn onto northbound Highway 25 in what was described as “medium to heavy” fog conditions.

The driver of the cement mixer was traveling southbound on 25 and collided with the big rig.

CHP says the cement truck driver died at the scene and appeared to be traveling about 55 miles-per-hour and did make an attempt to stop.

They say the driver of the cement truck was from San Juan Bautista and that drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this collision.

“There’s quite a long locked-wheel skid-mark leading up to the crash,” says CHP Officer Christopher Miceli.

The driver of the big rig was uninjured in the crash.

This stretch of Highway 25 and Bolsa Road is closed for another 3 or 4 hours while CHP continues to investigate and clear the scene.

Caltrans is attempting to clear fluids from the roadway and have detours in place as the investigation continues.
