Electrical outages leave thousands of PG&E customers without power in Santa Cruz County

Thousands of Pacific Gas and Electric customers are without power in Santa Cruz and Aptos after electrical outages.

More than 2,700 customers are affected by an electrical outage in Santa Cruz in the areas of Ocean Street, Broadway, Market Street and Branciforte. The outage started just after 3:30 p.m., according to a PG&E spokesperson.

PG&E said a large tree came down at Blaine Street and Ocean Street into power lines and affected multiple power poles in the area causing the outage.

In Aptos, more than 1,300 customers are affected by an outage near Rio del Mar Boulevard and Sumner Avenue. PG&E said the outage began just before 5:30 p.m. A PG&E spokesperson said the outage originally impacted 8,330 customers.
