Man arrested for attempted murder of teenager

UPDATE 5/21: A man is behind bars for his believed involvement in an attempted murder after Monterey County Sheriff’s Office officials served a search warrant.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division assisted by the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team served a search warrant on attempted murder suspect Uriel Tirado-Otero’s resident located on Pine Street in the City of Soledad.

Tirado-Otero was taken into custody for the shooting of a 17-year-old victim which occurred on Saturday, May 18th, 2019 in the city of Gonzales. Tirado-Otero’s residence was searched and he was later booked into the Monterey County Jail for 664/187 P.C.

UPDATE (9:29 p.m.):

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office tells KION that the victim is a 17-year-old boy. The boy is a Gonzales resident. There is no update on his condition.

ORIGINAL REPORT:

Alta is shut down between A and B Streets in Gonzales after one person was shot in the area.

KION has a crew at the scene. There is a heavy law enforcement presence, but no information about a suspect yet.

A resident tells KION that customers came into his restaurant telling him that there was a shooting. He saw one person being transported by paramedics.

Information about the condition of the victim has not been released.
