Greenfield man gets 20 years for stabbing woman he dated
A Greenfield man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for attempting to murder a woman he dated.
According to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, on Jan. 20, 2017, 30-year-old Agustin C. Serrano was talking to the victim in the kitchen of her Greenfield home, where they both rented rooms. The two had dated for about three months before the incident.
The victim told authorities she wanted to end their relationship, since she was 23 years older than Serrano. Serrano reportedly grabbed the woman by the neck and stabbed her with a knife.
“Serrano cut her throat and stabbed her in the chest and right arm and leg. He immediately fled to Mexico,” the DA’s Office said in a written statement.
On Aug. 1, 2018, detectives tracked Serrano down in Yuba City, California. He was arrested and interviewed. Serrano admitted he stabbed the victim.
