TAMC to start more Monterey County road projects with Measure X money

The Transportation Agency for Monterey County is putting Measure X tax dollars to work.

TAMC plans to use a portion of the money on road projects that were put on hold because of funding issues.

“Blanco road was originally supposed to be done a couple of years ago, and it’s been on the backlog of projects because there just wasn’t the funding available,” said Grand Leonard with TAMC.

Blanco Road is one of two main routes for people traveling between Salinas and the Monterey Peninsula and it’s a key road for farming in the Salinas Valley.

“The combination of those commuter cars and the farm trucks puts a lot of wear and tear on that road and it just needs to be repaired,” said Leonard.

Drivers told KION they’re welcoming the coming improvements as their tires have been damaged by pot holes and problems on the roadways.
