Sureno gang member sentenced for the murder of a 17-year-old

An 18-year-old Sureno gang member from Salinas will serve 29 years-to-life in prison for the murder of a 17-year-old in January of 2015.

Jesus Eloy Gutierrez (a.k.a Vicious) was 17 when he fired a gun out of a car driven by a fellow gang member, according to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office. Gutierrez fired a gun into an open garage where several juveniles were hanging out. A 17-year-old boy was hit in the head and died instantly.

The driver was sentenced to serve 25 years-to-life last week.
