UPDATE: Salinas Police arrest wanted man after long standoff

UPDATE: 4:20 10/30/15: Salinas Police arrested a man wanted for several felony charges after a six hour standoff Friday.

Police and SWAT worked the case all day, trying to get Steven Acosta out of a home on West Street.

The standoff shut the neighborhood down for most of the day.

Salinas Police have surrounded a home near Park and West Streets where a wanted suspect is believed to be hiding.

Police said the man they’re trying to arrest is Steven Acosta. He was previously charged for kidnapping a woman in July, who ended up getting away and running to safety at Jack-in-the-Box in Salinas.

Acosta has several charges against him and was seen trying to run away from police Thursday near Alisal High School. That was the same incident that forced four schools to temporarily go on lockdown.

Police said they spotted him running into a home Friday morning with two elderly residents inside. Police were able to get the couple out of that house. No word if Acosta has any connection to that couple.
