Suspect arrested in Sand City Highway 1 murder, second suspect wanted

Sand City police said one teen has been arrested for the murder of a Seaside teen earlier this month on Highway 1.

Officers said Ivis Ruvalcaba, 19, is charged in the murder of Khaleel Johnson, 19. Sand City Police Department said the shooting happened 12:30 a.m. March 15 when two men in a vehicle were shot at while driving northbound on Highway 1.

Ruvalcaba has been charged with murder, attempted murder, firearm and gang enhancements.

Investigators said they are still looking for Edward Rodriguez, 19, for his involvement in Johnson’s murder.

Sand City police said it worked quickly to investigate the case with help from multiple agencies.
