Derby girl arrested on alleged embezzlement charges

Marina police said a member of the Monterey Bay Derby Dames is facing charges for allegedly embezzling more than $17,000 from the league.

Officers said Kourtney Gulick, 26, was arrested March 13 at her home in Greenfield. They said Gulick was working as the league’s treasurer. Monterey Bay Derby Dames is a nonprofit recreational roller derby club based in Marina and members compete regionally against other teams.

Detectives said a search warrant was served at her home and evidence related to the investigation was discovered.

Gulick was booked into the Monterey County Jail on embezzlement charges. Officers said she is accused of using the organization’s money to buy personal items and gifts.
