Elephant Seal pup nudged back to sea in Monterey

The Marine Mammal Center was called out the Del Monte Beach Friday afternoon to rescue an elephant seal pup.

Rescuers said the said the pup was most likely born in December and left to its own devices sometime in February.

Rescuers said this pup was too weak to return to the ocean because of a lack of feeder fish.

They said warm water makes the fish stay out further and the pups starve because they can’t eat.

Rescuers were seen nudging the pup back to sea.
