Salinas teen in Florida takes home trophy in round one of racing series

UPDATE: Andrew Luker took home the win in round one of the AMA Pro Flat Track racing series Thursday.

The 17-year-old dirt biker racer from Salinas is in Daytona Beach, Florida to compete in the first of 16 races across the country.

Luker will race again on Friday March 13th.

Stacie Cooper, Luker’s mother, told News Channel 5 that her son started riding when he was just two-years-old and he began competing at the age of five.

Luker is now a professional racer and is hoping to finish the series in the top five this year. His family supports him and helps fund his racing career right now.
